Every Action Counts
Waterloo Region has a community goal to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the year 2050!
The first step toward this goal has been working toward our short-term target, since 2013, to achieve a 6% reduction by the end of 2020. As a member of our community, we each have a role to play at work, at home, at school, and everywhere in between. By pledging your intention to make a change in your day-to-day life, you are joining a region-wide collaboration to transform Waterloo Region to a low carbon community.
Here’s how the Pledge Works
Step 1: Make your Climate Action pledge today!
Take 2 minutes to pledge your commitment to an action you can work toward within the next 90 days, to help reduce our community’s carbon emissions in one of our top 3 local highest emitting sectors (transportation, workplaces, and homes). This is where we need to concentrate our efforts to achieve our short and long-term goals.
Once you’ve made your pledge, your first name (never last name!), municipality, and pledge sector will be posted on our website to inspire others in the region to take climate action as well.
Step 2: Take action!
We’ll follow up with some custom resources to help kick start your journey, and set you up for success.
Step 3: Keep the momentum going!
We’ll check back in 90 days to see how you’re doing, provide encouragement, and hear about your challenges and successes.
Encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to join in. Achieving an 80% greenhouse gas emission reduction by 2050 is a community-wide effort – we all have a role to play!
Step 4: Share on social media and use the tag #WR80by50!
